NASCAR and NBC Sports Cutouts

In the summer of 2015 NBC Sports was preparing to kick-off their new contract with NASCAR to broadcast the second-half of the racing season. NBC wanted to make a big splash, so as part of a huge marketing blitz they decided to take a custom bumper car ride to each track that NBC would cover! Through their advertising agency Civic Entertainment Group, I was hired to create standee cutouts as part of the bumper car ride promotion.

(Civic Entertainment Group is a part of the Seacrest Global Group owned by Ryan Seacrest)

Outside the tent housing the bumper car ride would be two 6′ foot square illustrations with holes cutout for people to interact with the illustrations I produced. One would feature the crowd watching a car as it was wrecking, and the second would be a driver in the winner’s circle with a young lady next to him.

The illustrations I did went over so well that they hired me to do a third illustration of a “You must be this tall” sign for outside the bumper car ride. I came up with a young boy popping out of a stack of NASCAR tires with his hand at the 48″ inch mark indicating how tall you had to be to enter the ride. This was a great project to work on and a real blast to see my work on national TV.
