I went a bit outside my normal style of drawing cars for this illustration of a car and its owner. My youngest son, who is an excellent auto mechanic, turned 25 recently and I wanted to give him something car related. Since I know nothing about cars outside of putting in gasoline and changing a flat tire, I decided it best to draw a caricature of him in his car. Growing up, I remember seeing “Deal’s Wheels” far-out car drawings and the models created from those car-toons. So I used those drawings as a reference to make this drawing for my son.
Car caricatures of this type rely on the car having some sort of distinctive styling to then heavily modify into a caricature, such as tail fins or front grills. But the 2005 Dodge Magnum my son owns is fairly generic, so it made it a bit challenging to modify the body style and still recognize it as a Dodge Magnum. Luckily, the car does have rear-wheel drive, so having the huge racing slicks on the rear axle makes sense.
It still turned out great and my son loved it! You can have this done to your car, or for a car enthusiast you know. Just contact me about pricing for the car drawing you want. My car drawings start at $75.00 and increase from there depending on the requirements of the request.
