In the fall of 2016, on-line marketing giant Rakuten asked me to bid on a project to create a set of superheroes and villains for an upcoming promotional campaign they were doing. I won the bidding process which included submitting a rough draft of the style I’d use for creating their superheroes. My style draws more from Hanna-Barbera cartoons then from traditional Marvel or DC comic style superheroes and they loved the look!
They wanted to go for a non-traditional look to the superheroes and did not want them in skin-tight spandex costumes. I came up with a vest and leather coat look and they loved it. I had to draw the characters in a couple different poses as they would appear on a poster in a mini-comic story. This was a fun project that took about a month to turn around due to the varying poses required.
